Home » About Us » Heroes » Greg DeanGreg Dean is a 44 year-old litigation specialist from Coppell, Texas, who is married with a 10 year old daughter. He's been an active long-distance cyclist for a number of years and recently has entered several triathlons.
In May 1991, Greg was diagnosed with Stage 1 seminoma. He underwent surgery and 5 weeks of radiation. Not one to be deterred, Greg completed the prestigious 750 mile Paris-Brest-Paris bicycle race shortly after his surgery and radiation treatments. He was cancer-free for 12 years until the cancer came back in July 2003 - this time surgery was done and Greg is under surveillance and hormone replacement therapy due to the loss of both testicles.
In December 2003, Greg heard about Team Nuts. He spoke with Mike Wyatt and got on a relay team the week of the White Rock Marathon Relay. He was inspired by Mike's efforts and his promotion of the awareness of men's cancer. Though he was not a runner, (he bought running shoes the night before the relay) he wanted to support Mike's efforts and help raise awareness for men's cancer.
Today, Greg is a proud survivor coming up on his 17th and 5th anniversary of being cancer-free. He is helping Team Nuts get out the word about male cancers, and that is why he is one of our heroes.
